OK! Magazine Under Fire for Controversial MJ Photo
Author: Likkle Miss // Category: Looseneck News
When it comes to being tacky and tasteless, tabloids like OK! and the National Enquirer have certainly paved the way for all the other trashy tabloid rags…so they can put people like Speidi on the cover. Thanks guys. This latest stunt might just be one of the lowest.
The disturbing image of Michael Jackson being rushed into UCLA Medical Center from an ambulance was purchased by OK! for approximately $500,000 (£305,000) and appears on the magazine’s “Official Tribute Issue,” arriving on newsstands today. “It’s a photo that captures the surprise and the upset and the moment of this breaking news story. I hope the cover will provoke readers,” OK! editorial director Sarah Ivens said in defense of the magazine’s decision to run the image. “It celebrated the man, but it also does expose that he was an eccentric character who lived a very controversial life.”According to the NY Post, hip-hop moguls Diddy and Jay-Z are so outraged by this, they’re organizing a boycott” against the mag.
And why do you feel the need to “expose” the man for his eccentricity now? Weren’t we all aware of that when he was alive? These people have no decorem. This is just…..ugh!

Entertainment Tonight also posted a similar photo of Michael Jackson on a stretcher with paramedics working on him on the day that he died. It’s a shame how low media outlets have sunken these days.
