My childhood is calling. I used to adore the Berenstein Bears. They filled in with the important life lessons where Mom and Dad left off like….how to tie my shoes, clean my room, deal with bullies, love my sibling. My parents were busy, ok? It was also quite difficult to convince me that Bear Country and Brother and Sister did not actually exist. Don’t judge me. As if you never thought your toys came alive when you left the room.
The popular literary series was the subject of several NBC specials and two animated series in the late 1970s and early 1980s as well as two animated series. Producers as hoping to make the Bears’ latest screen adaptation a family-friendly comedy that will mix live action with computer-generated characters, a la Alvin & The Chipmunks. Walden Media, the company behind the Narnia franchise has picked up the movie rights to the classic children’s book series. And Shawn Levy, the director of Night at the Museum movie is on board as producer.
